The South Mimico STS And Maintenance Hole Rehabilitation Project involved the trenchless rehabilitation of 2 kilometers of 600mm (24”) to 900mm (36”) diameter sanitary trunk sewer utilizing cured in place pipe as well as the rehabilitation and open cut replacement of 30 maintenance holes utilizing Warren Environmental Epoxy Spray system. As most project go, the rehabilitation works are the heart of the projects, however, in this case, the more challenging aspects of the contract involved the establishment, maintenance and operation of 2.3 kilometers of temporary bypass pumping, construction of 4 temporary bridges and abutments and installation and restoration of some 1.3 kilometers of temporary access road, all within the boundaries of the Mimico Creek greenspace in Etobicoke. The works are all challenging on their own, however, just to add another degree of difficulty the majority of the work site is within the floodplain of the Mimico Creek water shed which in turn is regulated and maintained by the Toronto Regional Conservation Authority. All works were completed without incident as crew were treated each morning to a viewing of the local wild life.
